Upload a data file
To transfer data to Experian using a third party client
|
This process applies to batch file processing and data upload.
|
- Open WinSCP.
- Select your secure site in the left hand window.
- Click Login. Your local files will be displayed in the left hand window and your STS instance in the right hand window. The format of the directories in your STS environment is configurable, but you should see the following directories with self explanatory names such as
to_experian
and from_experian
, as in the example screenshot below.

- To transfer files, open the destination folder in the right hand window.
- Select the data file in the left hand window. To be processed by the system the file should have the naming convention
batch-{ServiceId}-.*.zip
for batch files or customer_latest.csv
for data upload files.
| Batch data files must be in an archived (ZIP) CSV format. Data upload files must be in CSV format.
|
| The CSV needs to contain a header, which specifies to which field each column corresponds. Each field is mapped in a key/value pair when sending a Business Process Server (BPS) request for individual CSV lines.
|
- Click Upload.
| Files can also be transferred using drag and drop.
|
| Files uploaded to STS must be no larger than 100MB and only one file can be uploaded at a time. Once the file is saved in the Batch File Processing Service (BFPS) database, a second file can be uploaded.
|
| The input file will not be processed if any threats, such as viruses are detected in the file.
